Shameless was harder than most shows for me to completely get into at first. At the beginning , the show comes off strange and does not make a lot of sense. To be frank from the beginning, the show does contain an immense amount of scenes broadcasting drugs, sex, and alcohol, so if that is something you are opposed to then this is definitely not the right for you. The show is about six kids whose mother abandoned them, and their father is a raging alcoholic who only comes home to mooch whatever money off of them that he possibly can. The kids are raised by their oldest sister Fiona who essentially takes on the position as their parent. This sounds like the perfect sob story, but the show itself is not generally sad. In most cases it's funny and insane what these kids do to get by. Event though the father, Frank, is clearly an awful parent, his character on the show brings so much humor it becomes hard not like him. The show is definitely one that I recommend and it is different than any other sap drama filled television show that I have watched before. It does have scenes that pull on your emotions, which I believe all good shows should have. But, it is a great balance of comedy, love, and sadness.
